Heavy Duty Ultrasonic Antifouling solutions in the best Dutch maritime engineering tradition.

Shipsonic is a brand of delta-sistems B.V. a Dutch cleantech company that provides innovative, effective, cost efficient & environment friendly antifouling solutions for professional marine, offshore and fishery. As of January 2017 delta-sistems B.V. has incorporated Shipsonic, since 2006 one of the market leaders in ultrasonic antifouling. delta-sistems B.V. will continue the Shipsonic brand with recently developed and strongly improved series of heavy duty ultrasonic antifouling systems. All Shipsonic systems are developed and built in the Netherlands.

The Netherlands has a rich maritime research and development tradition. At Shipsonic we have made a conscious decision to tap into this. To be able to do this, our systems are fully developed and built in the Netherlands. This allows us to partner with such institutions as the NIOZ (Netherlands Institute for Sea Research) and the HZ Vlissingen (University of Applied Sciences), amongst others. Systems

A system consists of a control unit with connections for 1, 2, 4, 6 or 8 transducers.

At the moment we have 5 different control unit models and 5 types of transducers in our Heavy Duty Series (HDS).

Please note that for different transducer sizes (different Wattage) we use different electronics/transformer specifications. So different transducer models are not interchangeable without adapting

the electronics in the control unit. Given the modular design of our control units, this amounts to no more than exchanging 1 or more plug-and-play Power Circuit Boards (PCB’s).

Shipsonic or one of our agents will help you with the optimal configuration of your system. This configuration depends on the type and size of the object (sea-chest, box-cooler, bucket-strainer, hull, etc). We often place different transducer types on 1 object, to guarantee a wide spectrum of ultrasonic frequencies.

Thus, control units and transducers are sold separately, according to individual system design. Our Power Circuit Boards (PCB’s) can also be supplied independently.

Transducers

Transducer classification

Shipsonic™ has different transducer classifications; water-resistant IP63 and water-proof IP67.

Our different transducers, often used in combination,  are:

  •   50 Watt 17 kHz, different housings available
  •   50 Watt 40 kHz, IP67
  •   80 Watt 23 kHz, different housings available
  • 100 Watt 28 kHz, IP63
  • 100 Watt 28 kHz, IP67
  • 120 Watt 20 kHz, IP67

Transducer characteristics

Correct ultrasonic frequency

Scope-reading of frequency response test

We use heavy, low frequency transducers for 2 reasons:

– the lower ultrasonic frequencies are more effective

– the resonance frequency of a transducer goes up about 16 kHz

once it is installed on an object like a box-cooler (thus a 20 kHz

transducer will make your box cooler resonate with approximately

20+16=36kHz)

Our design features a standalone software module for each transducer, looping constantly through all frequencies from 20 to 60 kHZ. This enables us to ensure that each transducer/object combination always receives pulses in its optimum range.

INSTALLATION CONSULTING SERVICES

Installing an ultrasonic antifouling system is very simple, and normally carried out by the ship’s crew. The one decision to make is how many transducers are needed, and where to place them. To help clients with this, we offer an installation consultancy service. We let you do the installation, but help you decide how. This service can be hired online, using video conferencing etc. Or one of our consultants comes to visit you on the ship itself.

Medasia Yachting is capable of providing a wide range of engineering services including:

  • Box Coolers
  • Sea-Chest
  • Strainer
  • Hull
  • In take piping
  • Fabrication of components or assemblies
